AND NOW FOR THE REST OF THE STORY: Locked the differential in my Peerless 930-057A transaxle, this method is new and worked really well, all the bevel gears have 14 teeth. I did a search on heymow.com , there are several methods listed using extra spider gears rather than welding, my choice, BUT my ring (bull) gear was different from all of them. When I put the extra spiders in the first time they just flopped around and fell out, NOT A GOOD THING. SO I put in a 1/2″ bolt (should’ve used 5/8″), a washer for a spacer, nut, put together with blue locktite and ground the ends of the bolts for snug gear fit, several trials. Works well, easy to install and remove. One thing I did notice with the locked differential is when either rear wheel is on the ground you have good traction.
